Nothing too surprising in the news that David Cameron has appointed a Shadow Minister for Sheffield.
Holding the torch for the Conservatives in Sheffield, where the Tories hold no Westminster seats and just two councillors, will be Shadow Constitutional Affairs Secretary Oliver Heald, who represents a constituency in Hertfordshire but has family ties to the city.

More surprising is the news that the Heald is going to report to the Shadow Foreign Secretary.
Perhaps someone should tell the Tories that Sheffield is in the UK?

Mr Cameron is deluding himself if he believes that the answer rests with Shadow Cabinet Ministers being assigned specific cities through the bizarre pick 'n' mix exercise announced yesterday.
Take the Yorkshire appointments. William Hague, for all his qualities, is struggling to combine his Shadow Foreign Secretary duties with his desire to complete his biography of Hull's anti-slavery hero, William Wilberforce. When will he find the time to visit Leeds and Bradford?
And what does it say about the party's commitment to Sheffield when the city is assigned Oliver Heald, the party's constitutional affairs spokesman? The MP for North Hertfordshire is not even a household name in his own party, never mind on the streets of Yorkshire's steel city.

Did he announce ones for other cities - who are they? Cilla Black for Liverpool perhaps?
Wasn´t she from Birkenhead?

Newcastle (no Tory councillors) is being graced by the appointment of Little Alan Duncan
