Dave - trailing behind.

Excerpt: Dave's excuse for having his ministerial car follow him to work, whilst he rides his bike, is that he has too many files to carry. Francis Maude, when this was mentioned on "Any Questions", stated that if anyone could solve this problem Dave would give up this practice.

This was a tough one to do. It is almost satire already.

Oh, come off it. I'm no Cameroon (I'm a paid-up LibDem), but it's fairly obvious why the car follows him to work. Or do you really expect the Leader of the Opposition's default beefy security goons to cycle behind him?

If Chameron were serious, then, yes, I would expect it.

But Tabman - am I right in thinking that the chap is wearing sandals? Therefore, he must be a Lib Dem (according to popular Tory tradition). So if Chameron, D does not go in for this, all it shows is that he is not, and never was, a real Liberal Democrat. QED.

I don't mind him using a car to transport his files etc. but this does raise the question: why isn't he in the car himself, if it's going to the same place?

The whole bicycle-riding thing was supposed to demonstrate how environmentally-friendly Cameron is by not using a car, but if the car is making the journey anyway then it's no better for the environment.

Couldn't he just have some bicycle couriers carrying the files instead?

El Capitano, there is no suggestion that he has security people in his car (who, anyway, would surely be better placed cycling alongside him?), or even that the car follows closely behind him. The point is, it follows on once the journalists are out of the way.

If this is a security measure, it has a hole in it about a mile wide.

Two Ortlieb panniers (waterproof) or a Bob Yak trailer. One pannier would do (for his shoes) since he can't have too many papers - the Tories don't seem to have too many policies.
