Labour Councillor joins the Lib Dems
POLITICAL defections in Essex seem to have become the vogue, and the latest sees a senior Labour councillor heading for the Liberal Democrats just weeks before voters go to the polls to choose a council for the next four years.
Joy Reekie, who represents Witham West on Braintree district and town councils, is cheesed off with New Labour. “For the past two years I have been struggling to reconcile my beliefs, principles and conscience with changes in the Labour Party. I have come to realise that the changes are not in me but that the party has moved away from my fundamental beliefs.”
Unlike recent Conservative defections to the Liberal Democrats, this one did not result in a change of control.

In Manchester thanks to the antics of our MP the councillors do this in the opposite direction. Because of the failings of John Leech and his ridiculous hoax based campaigns we are losing members, councillors and votes. Anyone else in Manchester up for giving this pest the push.
Need more substantive comments than that.
Given council by-elections have been won recently and manchester area has increased membership by 60 since General Elction, then I suspect you're a Labour troll.
Only "suspect"?
LOL
Peter
Won a by-election that was one of our safest seats and increased membership mostly in one ward to deselect a popular councillor to replace him with one of Leech's cronies. Wake up!
Your boy Leech has reached new levels of ridicule in Manchester. He is now openly being plotted against.
In your dreams

I have to tell you that I seldom dream about deslection battles and I can assure you that John Leech is never in my wildest dreams. He's being talked about behind his back by his Lib Dem colleagues. Don't believe me? Watch this space after you take another beating in the locals in Manchester.
A bit like one of those non-existent defections the Tories keep talking up. Will believe it when I see it.
Meanwhile, what about those real deselection battles in the Labour party. Kate Hoey, anyone?
He's lost the plot again. ask around!
